INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

Peace and Security

We support:

  1. peaceful conflict resolution, normalized US diplomatic relations with all countries/multilateral solutions to international problems
  2. closing Guantanamo Bay detention facilities
  3. federal court access for non-US detainees
  4. promoting human dignity, resolving global poverty, protecting clean air/water, improving education, and reducing hunger/disease
  5. eliminating WMDs
  6. territorial integrity of all nations including native American nations

  8. cultural/educational exchange programs
  9. maintaining present NATO security alliances
  10. gender equality/empowerment of women/gender minorities
  11. taking military action only with clear national defense goals/ informed Congressional consent/ international cooperation
  12. ending violence against women and sexual/gender minorities, including genital mutilation/honor killings/forced marriage/rape/property confiscation
  13. prosecuting human traffickers via ICC, protecting victims
  14. free/fair/open elections
  15. stricter enforcement of FARA

  17. treating POWs/enemy combatants humanely
  18. assisting refugees
  19. reducing the military budget by 25% and discontinuing its use as an offensive force.

Iran

We support:

  1. diplomatic engagement
  2. a nuclear agreement

We oppose:

  1. offensive military action against Iran

Israel/Palestine

We support:

  1. equal human rights/health/welfare for Palestinians and Israelis
  2. right of return/just compensation for displaced Palestinians
  3. rights of BDS
  4. escrowing aid to Israel until Israel recognizes Palestine at 1966 borders
  5. Palestinian statehood/UN membership
  6. peaceful efforts to achieve separate secure Israeli and Palestinian states respecting the rights of all persons

We oppose:

  1. Israel Separation Barrier/settlement activities/moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem prior to final resolution and blockade of Gaza Strip
  2. Anti-Semitism/Islamophobia

Afghanistan/Iraq/Syria

We support:

  1. reconstruction and refugee resettlement
  2. resolving the Syrian conflict and providing humanitarian assistance
  3. US acceptance of 100,000 Syrian refugees annually

Yemen

We oppose:

  1. Saudi involvement in Yemen

Ukraine

We support:

  1. peaceful conflict resolution

We oppose:

  1. Russian territorial annexation

Central and South America and the Caribbean

We support:

  1. normalized relations with Cuba
  2. immediately closing WHINSEC
  3. investigating US government involvement in 2009 Honduras coup/subsequent activists’ killings

  1. US border wall

  1. famine relief
  2. funding economic/agricultural development
